University of Colorado at Boulder or Colorado Springs?

So I have definite qualifications to get into either school, but I don't know where I should go. I've heard something questionable things about Boulder, and a lot of people I know have transferred out their first year at Boulder because in their words it was "so different". Does anyone know the specific characteristics of each campus in academic and living terms? How is Boulder so different than any other university out there?
